This aptly named little app is useful when you are reviewing, editing and fine tuning your words. The software isn’t going to turn you into a professional writer. But it is a useful tool to help you check your copy as write. You can simply accept or reject its numerous suggestions. A fun but not indispensable tool, it is never going to replace the need for a professional proof reader.

The Hemmingwayapp’s immediate competitors as a writing tool are Grammarly and ProWritingAid. Check out Dave Chesson’s in-dpeth review for a really detailed report on the pros and cons.  There is also an informative article by Dan Kopf about whether the app helps you emulate Ernest Hemingway’s clear, minimalist style.

There are two versions: one is free online and the other is desktop version coming in around twenty quid.
