Review: The Standoff at Sparrow Creek (2019)

No doubt The Standoff at Sparrow Creek (2019) made perfect sense down the pub over a few pints of bitter and a packet of pork scratchings. Director-writer Henry Dunham’s premise for this claustrophobic cornered crooks-and-cops caper had loads of potentially, especially in the current political climate. The movie shines a light on heavily armed Trumpland right wing militias as they revolt to make America great again. Despite great intentions, this movies ends up as Reservoir Dogs revisited minus Tarantino’s originality and shock value. Sadly, the movie disappoints on every single level even though you know they have tried their best to transition from a great idea to a convincing watchable finished product rather than The Sleepfest at Sparrow Creek.
